WEEK 1 : NOVEMBER 13 TO NOVEMBER 17,2017

 Internship Practice

Week 1

As a part of B.Ed course, we were assigned different schools for the internship phase. The internship phase started on November 13, 2017, Monday. The school allotted to me was St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, Pattom. During this phase, we have to take thirty lesson plans including Physical Education and Health Education, collect data for our project, conduct achievement test and diagnostic test, etc. We were given clear instructions regarding our activities in school including the expected dates in which we have to complete our works.

I was assigned class IX.J to take Physics under the guidance of Mini Mathew teacher and class IX.F1 to teach Chemistry under the guidance of Preetha V R teacher.  I got one period in class IX.F1 during the first week. I took the lesson "The Common Components of Alkali" during the fourth period on November 13. The Revenue District School Science Fair and Vocational Expo were conducted at St. Mary's HSS from November 15-17. The expo consisted of Work Experience, Mathematics, Social Science, IT and Science. On the first two days, we were given invigilation duties. The duty certificates were given to us by Deputy Director of Education, Trivandrum. We were given an opportunity to conduct the concluding ceremony. Former ISRO chairman G. Madhavan Nair gave away the prizes to the winners.

CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF FIRST WEEK

Though the week began with a small tension, it was replaced by the satisfaction of being acknowledged as teacher the first day itself. I was able to take first class very effectively. I was able to take the lesson by linking with the real life examples. The doubt raised by one of the student of the class IX.F1 regarding the acidity of kiwi fruit was food for thought for me and I realized my knowledge on Chemistry is limited. The activities carried out were interesting for students. I was able to give proper stimulus variation and could ensure active participation from students. The Revenue District School Science Fair and Vocational Expo gave us an exposure to the skills concealed within the students. It was a first time experience to be a part of the Expo. I felt happy realizing our education system give opportunities to foster talents in students.
